Bardan Information, Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir
Bardan is an isolated moanstery and loacted at about 12 kms. to the south of Padum. It has about 40 old school monks in residence. Founded durin g the 17th century as the first ever centre of old, unreformed Drugpa monastic order in Zanskar, Bardan controls several other Drugpa establicshments including Sani Monastery. Its highlights include beautiful statues, stupas in clay, bronze wood and copper. It is also a popular stop on the rekking trail to Manali.
