Visit To Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar was erected in 1192 by Sultan Mohammad Ghori's viceroy, Qutbuddin Aibak, to celebrate their victory over the Rajputs at Mehrauli in South Delhi. Qutub Minar is 73 mts high and consists of five storys. This is just outside the central courtyard of Quwatul Islam Masjid, the earliest extant mosque in the North India. Qutb-Ud-Din built the first three and his son in law Iltutmish embellished these and added a fourth.
Within the Qutub complex, is the 7 mts high Iron Pillar that draws tourists because of the popular belief that if you encircle the Pillar with your arms, your wishes will come true. The iron of high purity has not rusted even after 2000 years. The Sanskrit inscription on it suggests that it was initially erected outside a Vishnu temple, possibly in bihar and was raised in the memory of Chandragupta II.
