Phugthal is spectaculary located monastery in Ladakh and dating back to the early 12th century. Housing an old chappel with frescoes reflecting Indian art, it is accessible from the Padum-Mandi trekking route through a 7 kms. long trail that brnaches off from the Purney bridge on the main trail.
