A series of dynasties in Deccan or southern region developed their own styles of architecture. The Bahmani style shows the influence of Delhi and equally of medieval Europe and Persia. Some of the examples are forts and tombs at Dulatabad,Golconda, Bidar and Gulbarga.
In the Bijapur style may be seen the growth of Indian influence and a fall in Persian design. The huge dome of the Golgumbaz, the second largest dome in the world is supported by intersecting arches,a great feat of the local artisans of Bijapur.
Examples of the vigorous and fanciful Golconda style can be seen in the Char Minar, the Jama Masjid and Mecca Masjid at Hyderabad. The Kashmir style on the other hand has wooden carvings in the timber tradition of the region.
