To the ordinary mortals, Nirguna Bramha is impersonal and hard to comprehend.So in relation to the world,we have the Saguna Bramha or the Bramha with forms and attributes who is known as one great god or Ishwara.The three main functions of god headed,Creation Preservation and Destruction are further simplified by the one great god Ishwara being called Bramha,when takes over the creation of the universe,Vishnu when he assumes the role of preserver and Shive when he is the destroyer.They jointly are known as Trinity.
The feminine aspect of the Creator is personified in the form of Saraswati,the consort of Bramha. The feminine aspect of the Preserver is personified in the form of Lakshmi,the consort of Vishnu.Parvati,the consort of Shiva,symbolizes cosmic energy in the form of Shakti,The world mother,who is the power and energy by which the great god creates,preserves and destroys the world and recreates it a new.
A unique fact of Hinduism is that the early conquerors did not destry the faiths of the conquered peoples nor convert them.Hinduism adopted and assimilated the religios beliefs of all the primitive tribes and people with whom the early hindus came in contact.Every religion which Hinduism absorbed has its won gods and beliefs and every race has its own rituals and rites.Hinduism assimilated them all under the belief that – The great god is one.The learned only call him by different names.The larger number of gods and goddesses are the result on this assimilation.
