Andaman & Nicobar Islands:
Permissions to stay upto 30 days are issued on arrival at airport in Port Blair.If you are arriving by sea,you need the permit in advance.As you need to buy the ticket,it is advisable to get a permit while getting your Indian visa.It costs nothing and saves time later.Foreigners require permits to visit the Andaman Islands,thankfully the procedures are much easier than in recent years and the fees have been waived.Additional permits are also required for many of the outlaying islands.

Lakshadweep Islands:
Tourists may visit Bangaram and Suheli islands after obtaining a permit from Lakshadweep Administration,Willingdon Island,Harbour Road,Cochin - 3.

North-Eastern Region:
Curently the following places require special permits: Aruanchal Pradesh, Manipur,Mizoram, Nagaland,Sikkim and parts of Spiti.Therotically permits are granted to tourists in the groups of four or more people on a tour arranged through a recognised travel agent.Permits allow for a maximum 10-day stay in each state.This southern archipelago is opening up.Five Islands (Agatti, Bangaram, Kadmat, Kalpeni and Minicoy) are currently open to foreigners, while two others (Andrott and Kavaratti) can be visited by Indian citizens.In the future,foreigners might be allowed to take the boat cruises currently now only available to the Indians.For bookings and permits for the Lakshadweep, contact the Society for Promotion of recreational Tourism and Sports in Lakshadweep,part of the main Lakshadweep Tourism organisation.
