Visit To Raj Ghat
Raj Ghat is a simple square platform fo black marble where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assissination in 1948. It is located to the north east of Feroz Shah Kotla on the banks of Yamuna river. A commemorative ceremony takes place here on each Friday. The Raj Ghat area is now a beautiful park. The Gandhi Memorial Museum here is well worth a visit. Entry is available from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. The memorials of other leaders include Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's at Shanti Van, his daughter Indira Gandhi and grandsons Sanjay Gandhi (1984) and Rajiv Gandhi (1991) are also cremated in the vicinity.
